Overview:
This course covers the development of Western Civilization from 1300 to the present. It emphasizes world history with a strong European component. The ultimate purpose of this course is to help develop an understanding of the complexity of issues involved in making our world what it is today. Students will also be able to understand the development of political systems around the world and to analyze the roles of significant individuals and groups during important periods of time and at key turning points in global history.* In addition, students will receive a general education of social studies skills such as literacy across the curriculum, how to interpret data, primary resources and maps, and critical thinking. By using engaging and interactive lessons the students will gain certain skills to go on in the social studies field.
