After combining our Jigsaws from the weekend homework, we had other groups assess our ability to apply the themes to our countries. After this, we began to look at the world history themes. We got one term and began working on our concept maps that are for homework if not finished.

Following yesterday's discussion of the 5 themes, we are going to apply these themes to a country of our choice. While working in groups, we will identify the themes within a specific country. Make sure to complete your part for homework.
The class continued to define the themes of geography and worked on their vocab wall. Following this, the students applied the themes to the country that their group chose to focus on. We will finish the Jigsaw tomorrow.
Today after getting new seats, the groups drew a representation of the world and marked one place that each student would like to travel in their life. Following this, they chose one and will be doing a case study of this location over the next couple of days.
We completed all pre-assessments today. This will allow Mrs. Perry and I to see where everyone stands in terms of writing ability and geography knowledge. Following the pre-assessments, we completed a textbook scavenger hunt in order to become better prepared to utilize the textbook.
Today, we discussed how history is created by different perspectives of events. These events and perspectives create our own beliefs and understandings of our lives and surroundings. There was no homework, as we will finish the discussion on Monday.
Today, we began by going through the Cornell note process. This step by step process will provide you with the tools to be successful. If you have any questions about the process or particulars, please the cornell notes page. Following Cornell notes, we put them to use by using them through our introduction to history. Following our practice notes, we completed a written assessment so that Mrs. Perry and Mr. Schaeffer could identify where we are as a class in terms of writing. If it was not finished in class, this is homework for tomorrow. Otherwise, if you have not turned in your syllabus, make sure you remember to do that as soon as possible.
Today, we began by getting to know the students in the class a little bit better and then getting to the know the teachers better. The students were able to ask questions to learn a little bit about the background of both Mrs. Perry and Mr. Schaeffer. Following the questions, students received their cornell notebooks and were introduced to the strategy of taking cornell notes (If you have any questions, make sure you see the cornell notes page for assistance). Make sure to get your syllabus signed if you have not already.
After yesterday's shortened schedule, today we are beginning the new year with the class syllabus and some expectations in Modern World History. Tomorrow we will begin getting to know the teachers and understanding the importance of history.
